Installation Steps

  1. Download the installer file (BusinessLedger-Setup-2.0.0.exe)
  2. Run the installer — Windows may show a security warning (see below)
  3. Follow the prompts — Accept the license, choose install location
  4. Launch Business Ledger from your desktop or Start menu
  5. Enter your license key in Settings → License

⚠️ Windows Security Warning

Because our software is new, Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" warning. This is normal for software from small developers.

To proceed:

  1. Click "More info"
  2. Click "Run anyway"

The software is safe — we just haven't purchased an expensive code signing certificate yet.

Activating Your License

  1. Open Business Ledger
  2. Go to Settings tab
  3. Find the License section
  4. Enter your license key (format: BLDGR-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX)
  5. Enter your email address
  6. Click Activate License

You should see: "License activated! Tier: STANDARD" (or PROFESSIONAL / ENTERPRISE)


📱 Mobile Companion App PRO / ENTERPRISE

Professional and Enterprise licenses include the Mobile Companion app for Android. Check your purchase email for the download link.

Mobile App Features

Mobile App Installation

  1. Download the APK file from your purchase email on your Android phone
  2. Tap to install — If prompted, enable "Install from unknown sources"
  3. Open the app — You'll see "Waiting for setup..."
  4. Connect to desktop — See sync instructions below

Setting Up Mobile Sync

  1. On your desktop, go to Settings → Mobile Companion
  2. Connect your Android phone via USB cable
  3. On your phone, select "File Transfer" (MTP) mode when prompted
  4. Click "Setup Mobile Companion" on desktop
  5. Create a 4-6 digit PIN for the mobile app
  6. Wait for sync to complete
  7. On your phone, open the app and enter your PIN

Daily Syncing

To sync new data or import check-ins done on mobile:

  1. Connect your phone via USB
  2. Go to Settings → Mobile Companion
  3. Click "Sync Now"

This pushes fresh data to mobile and imports any check-ins you did on the phone.

Why USB sync? Your customer data never touches the internet. No cloud accounts, no data breaches, no subscription fees. Just plug in and sync — like the old days, but better.


Where Is My Data Stored?

By default, Business Ledger stores your data in:

C:\Users\[YourName]\OneDrive\BusinessLedger\

This folder contains:

Tip: If you use OneDrive, your data is automatically synced to the cloud as a backup!

First-Time Setup

  1. Set up your PIN — You'll be prompted to create a 4-6 digit PIN for security
  2. Save your Recovery Code — Write this down! It's the only way to recover access if you forget your PIN
  3. Enter your business info — Go to Settings and fill in your business details
  4. Create a backup — Go to Settings → Backup Now
